Charl Knitwear - Sailor Stripe Dress
Â
Charl Knitwear was founded by designer Frankie Davies, who spent 20 years creating knitwear for luxury fashion brands. The label celebrates heritage craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from traditional fisherman knits and techniques.
Each piece is thoughtfully designed and ethically produced, with a strong focus on sustainability, quality, and timeless style. Charl Knitwear combines expert craftsmanship and contemporary design to create knitwear that is both stylish and responsible.
The Sailor Dress is inspired by the sails of Norfolk fishing boats.Â
Always functional, this dress has two oversized patch pockets on the bust and two deep side pockets inserted in the skirt side seams. The sleeves are elbow length and can be worn rolled back. The placket can be worn buttoned to the top or left open and is trimmed with sustainable Corozo nut buttons.
The skirt has two rows of tuck stitch (including the hem) to create weight and volume in the skirt, they are also a nod to traditional Edwardian pinafores worn by the fishermen’s wives and daughters.
This piece has been lovingly made in Norfolk by a traditional manufacturer who has been producing maritime clothing and sails for over a century.
